Hospice and Palliative Care of Northeastern Illinois is now JourneyCare
Barrington, Ill – Hospice and Palliative Care of Northeastern Illinois is changing its name to JourneyCare, effective immediately.
The 30-year-old community-based nonprofit agency is making the change based on research that revealed the name was long and generic and that there was confusion as to the agency’s name. In fact, research revealed that people used 18 different names for the agency.
“We are very excited about launching JourneyCare, a name that better describes what we do,” said Sarah Bealles, President and CEO of JourneyCare. “We are guides along the journey through serious illness, providing pain and symptom management and end of life expertise, helping those we serve navigate their choices, goals and wishes.”
The only thing that is changing is the name…the agency has not been sold or merged with another agency, Bealles added.
About a year ago, the agency’s Boards of Directors and Trustees began discussion about whether the name Hospice and Palliative Care of Northeastern Illinois truly represented the breadth and depth of the programs and services offered. Recognizing and respecting the agency’s 30 year legacy of caring for generations of families, the Boards were very thoughtful about changing the name that many felt was symbolic of the history.
Patients and families can be assured that JourneyCare will continue to provide the quality, compassionate care and services they have come to rely on for over three decades
“Our patients and families will continue to receive the same exceptional compassionate care and support they are currently receiving,” Bealles explained. “JourneyCare has a deep, abiding commitment to its founding principles and mission of making every moment count for those touched by serious illness and loss.”
